The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL) has just received a significant boost in its efforts to promote entrepreneurship: a $75,000 grant from the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). This funding comes as part of the SBA's Growth Accelerator Competition, which aims to support organizations dedicated to fostering innovation and growth within small businesses.

Scott Morris, the director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, is enthusiastic about how this grant will enable growth of the Anchor Accelerator program. "My biggest goal right now is to get more students involved in the program," Morris stated, highlighting the dual benefits of practical experience for students and enhanced support for local businesses.

This funding is part of a wider $5.7 million allocation to 76 organizations throughout the country, with UMSL being the only Missouri organization awarded in the Capital Formation initiative category. Morris plans to increase this number even further, stating, "I would love to grow that, for that number of students to get over 30. We would love to bring in more mentors who sometimes serve as guest speakers for us as well. They typically will lecture during one of the sessions, so we leverage some of their expertise."
