The Michigan State Police (MSP) are stepping up this holiday season to address food insecurity in the Copper Country. The upcoming Stuff a Blue Goose event is more than just a charitable initiative; it’s a heartfelt connection between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Scheduled for December 11 and 13, troopers will be stationed outside local grocery stores in Houghton, Calumet, and L’Anse, inviting shoppers to contribute much-needed food items for local pantries.
Understanding the Stuff a Blue Goose Tradition
Initiated in 2009, the Stuff a Blue Goose campaign has grown tremendously. State police have transformed their patrol cars into donation venues, known colloquially as Blue Gooses. Over the years, more than 30 locations state-wide host similar events. Last year alone, thanks to community support, MSP collected over 12,000 toys and 4,000 lbs. of food along with $50,000 to aid families during the holiday season.
